You Don't Have To Go To Texas for Firefighter NFPA 1001 Anymore!

It's been a long time coming! And it's about time. For those who do not know, you now can do your full Firefighter Training (Pre-Service) NFPA 1001 1-11 online in a blended format in ONTARIO!!!

This is BIG news! Why attend a full two years at an Ontario College? Why leave the country to attend the same training in the United States?

If you are exploring you're education options, I cannot stress this enough - look into FESTI (Fire Emergency Services Training Institute) at the GTAA. I personally have attended many information sessions, I personally have spoken with the administration up to the Chief and cannot articulate enough about how professional and impressive not only is the training you will endure but the facilities (fire ground) with exemplary Instructors with practical hands-on experience are equally impressive and exciting.

Here is the official information, my recommendation - forget Pre-Service College full-time and Texas, go with FESTI.

NFPA 1001 Level I - II FIREFIGHTER TRAINING - BLENDED PROGRAM

Presented by, the Fire and Emergency Services Training Institute, Canada's Premiere Fire Training College.
$7622.90, including HST and certification examination fees
The Fire and Emergency Services Training Institute (FESTI) is registered as a private career college under the Private Career Colleges Act, 2005, by the Ministry of Training Colleges and Universities and is listed under Greater Toronto Airports Authority (PCC- 113530).
FESTI’s National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1001 Level I - II Firefighter Training - Blended Program is one of a kind and offers a new and exciting approach to fire training in Canada, and is approved as a vocational program under the Private Career Colleges Act, 2005, by the Ministry of Training Colleges and Universities. Additionally our course is recognized by the Office of the Fire Marshal and Emergency Management (OFMEM) and the Ontario Association of Fire Chiefs (OAFC).
Our online platform has been developed utilizing a blended learning strategy that incorporates a variety of learning tools and aids to assist students in successfully completing the theoretical portion of the program. Throughout this component, learning comprehension is evaluated by completing activities and assignments, which are submitted to program instructors for grading and feedback or are automatically graded with feedback. These required elements ensure students understand the learning objectives of each module, which is validated by the use of end of module evaluations. Once all individual elements have been successfully completed the learner can proceed to the next program module.
Upon successful completion of all  theoretical program elements, students qualify to attend FESTI to complete a mandatory, 4 week, intensive practical training and testing program. This practical phase challenges individuals to demonstrate their acquired knowledge through hands-on practice. Aided by live demonstration from one of our qualified Instructors, students will learn all of the skills necessary to challenge the OFMEM provincial written and skill examinations. FESTI optimizes the learning environment by maintaining a five -to-one student instructor ratio during all practical evolutions, and restricts the number of students to a maximum of sixteen per session.
This high level of individual attention creates an excellent developmental environment for the motivated recruit level firefighter to successfully complete all of the requirements and earn not only International Fire Service Accreditation Congress, NFPA 1001 Level I & II and 472 Operations Level certification, but the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE) accreditation as well.
Students registering for the program will be automatically assigned to their practical sign-off portion of the course, ensuring their place for the practical training. Students must schedule 3 months to complete their theory portion of the program and then be available to attend FESTI for the 4 weeks of practical skills development and assessment.
Students are required to purchase a copy of the IFSTA Essentials of Fire Fighting 6th edition which is the required manual for this program. This textbook will be utilized throughout the program including the practical phase of training, and can be purchased through IFSTA’s website at http://info.ifsta.org/essentials-6th. The cost for the text is the ONLY additional cost the student is required to pay above the advertised course fee. All of the personal protective equipment needed during the practical portion of the program is supplied at no additional cost.
Our staff are NFPA certified Fire Service Instructors, OFMEM Trainer Facilitators and/or active fire officers who bring their wealth of experience and expertise to field training exercises. The program combines current, comprehensive theoretical firefighting knowledge with considerable practical skills development, in a variety of areas such as fire behavior, fire ground operations, environmental protection, rescue operations, education and fire prevention in the community, just to name a few.
